Fighting insects, parasites and mites.
Birds and poultry most often attack mites, plumes and fleas. Feathers feed on the blood and exfoliated epithelium of the skin and feathers, causing damage and loss, itching of the skin and restlessness in the flock. Feathers are flattened, up to 10 mm long and very mobile. They live at the base of the feathers around the sacrum, head, neck and wings.

Blood-sucking hen mites (Dermanyssus gallinae) may also appear on the skin of birds. They are considered to be the most harmful and troublesome external parasites of poultry. They are extremely resistant to low temperatures and will survive the lack of food for up to 5 months. They are exposed to infections, among others. chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl, pheasants but also parrots, canaries and other species. These mites are oval in shape and gray-yellow in color, the oblong body is 0.6-0.75 mm long depending on the sex. They attack mainly at night, hiding in the crevices of the henhouse during the day. They attack the skin of birds, causing young birds to die, adults to lose weight, to be lethargic, have injured skin and torn and damaged by scratching feathers, reducing their production capacity.

The natural shape of crystalline diatomaceous earth and its microscopic sharp edges cause physical damage to the outer shell of mites, leading to water loss, drying out and dying off. In addition, the high absorbency parameter of diatomaceous earth causes the drying of eggs or larvae of insects and mites, preventing its reproduction.

The action of diatomaceous change is a purely mechanical process and is not a chemical phenomenon, so there are no side effects when using it. Due to the crystalline structure of diatomaceous earth particles, long-term inhalation by humans should be avoided.

Application:
It is important that the insects come into contact with the diatomaceous earth particles. The best thing to do is to sprinkle the product on the litter and directly on the poultry - the so-called dry bath. The product can also be mixed with water and sprayed by stirring (keeping the suspension). Repeat the process 1-3 times at intervals of several days. You can also perform the so-called "Painting" with a suspension, for example with a bench or a brush. After the water has evaporated, the soil will remain on the "painted" parts.

Diatomaceous earth is also added to fodder, improving the functioning of the digestive system as well as removing parasites, for example. The product is also available in granulation 0.3-0.7 mm as a feed additive and as a sprinkle for bedding.
